Well, it was a super Saturday for Collingwood supporters but a very quiet Saturday for auctioneers, with only three auctions scheduled across Jellis Craig’s 33 office network.

With the grand final done and dusted and Cup Weekend looming, this leaves a clear run of four unencumbered weekends to market a property, culminating in ‘Super Saturday’ on October 28th.

Super Saturday is traditionally the busiest auction day of the year, with anywhere between 1,000 and 2,000 properties going under the hammer in Victoria.

Auctions for the 28th October launch this week, so there will be a lot more properties to scroll through than usual on the real estate apps.

We have some incredible homes commencing this week, as can be seen below.

26 Chomley Street, Prahran is one of the finest renovations I have seen in some time (Clare Cousins Architects).

Media reporting has become very positive of late on the property front. According to PropTrack, prices across Australia are up 6.6 percent since February, outpacing inflation.

Domain have reported that clearance rates in all capital cities saw a monthly increase in August and remain higher annually by more than 11 percentage points. This is the strongest run in clearance rates in two years.

Melbourne is sitting at 68.3 percent clearance for houses.

Our market (the Inner East) is outperforming at 71.4 percent.

All very positive signs for property owners and potential vendors.

With buyers spread a bit more thinly across more listings, there could also be some good opportunities for buyers.

Happy house hunting!
